Clearing the Air: The Role of Business in Driving Down Air Pollution

  • World Ballroom C, 23/F
  • 18 September 2019
  • 14:00 - 15:30 (BKK)

The impacts of air pollution are as invasive as the particulates that more than 9 in 10 people living in Asia are breathing at unsafe levels. The health implications range from premature deaths and asthma-related emergency room visits to mental ill-health. Climate-related impacts have resulted in governments introducing increasingly stringent emissions regulations in line with the Paris Agreement. For businesses these new laws can affect operations and increase risk, while poor indoor air quality also reduces productivity and has heralded the introduction of environmental operations policies that focus on both environmental stewardship for planetary health and improving indoor air quality for occupant health and well-being. However, the need to improve air quality creates business opportunities, and many of the solutions have the potential to contribute to other development priorities. Join this session to hear experts and business leaders share insights into the issues, the answers and the business case for action.”
