Visa arrangements

Some countries do not need visa to travel to Thailand and some can avail visa on arrival service. Please check requisite visa requirements for your home country and the passport you travel with before setting off for Thailand.

In the absence of a Thai visa, you can obtain a ‘visa on arrival’, generally valid for 15 days. This facility is extended to only certain countries, please check in your country before you leave for Thailand whether your home country is eligible for this service (if you want to utilize this option). However, it is suggested that you secure appropriate visa to get rid of all the hassles.

Traveling from airport to conference venue

You may take a PRE-PAID taxi outside the airport exit to get to the conference venue, which will cost around 700 Baht. You may tell the driver you want to go to AIT (Asian Institute of Technology) and show him this map for reference. The trip will take around 45 minutes, but you should anticipate traffic jams during rush hours.

On reaching the conference venue

The security personnel at the AIT gate may ask you where you want to go. Just tell them you are going to AIT Conference Center. Please take the first right turn after crossing the security gate. You will see Siam Commercial Bank on your left and the road will turn after that. Please get down at the turn and you are in front of AIT Conference Center. Please proceed to AIT Conference Center reception where your to check in (if applicable) or go straight to the CSR Asia Summit registration counter, which is located near main entrance.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the conference fee. Participants may opt to stay at the AIT Conference Center (the conference venue), or at a hotel in downtown Bangkok. For more information, please click here.

Food

The conference fee includes the lunches on 3 and 4 November and the dinner on 3 November evening. If you wish to get food at other times, the AIT Conference Center dining hall is ready to serve you daily from 7:00 to 22:00. Estimated average cost per meal is around US$3.5.

Clothing

Thailand is a tropical country and is warm throughout the year. During the conference time, the weather turns dry and cool. Thin cotton clothes are recommended. A jacket or sweater may be recommended for the air-conditioned room.

Currency

The official currency in Thailand is the Thai Baht. The banknote denominations are of 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 baht whereas coins are of 1, 2, 5 and 10 baht. At present most banks do not accept US$50 notes of the 1990 and 1993 series; please avoid using them.

Banking service

Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has a branch in the AIT campus and offers foreign exchange service. The banking hours are from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 15:30. In case you are arriving on the weekend, please make sure that you exchange sufficient money at the airport for your immediate use.

E-mail and Internet facilities

Wireless Internet connection is available for free at the AIT Conference Center. The conference venue has a business center with several computers which provide access to the Internet.
