Responsible Tourism Award
27-30 October 2009
This year the CSR Asia Summit is organised in association with Wild Asia’s annual Responsible Tourism Award (RTA) and dates are set for 27-30 October 2009. Now in its fourth year, the Award is part of Wild Asia’s ongoing campaign to identify, reward, and share best practices from within the region.
Wild Asia’s Responsible Tourism Award is now aligned to World Travel Organization’s Global Sustainability Tourism Criteria and they hope to encourage more operators from the region to step forward and share their best practices, which will hopefully inspire change in destinations across Asia. The Award acts as a showcase for exemplary resorts and as an inspiration to others.
"RT in Action" training workshop
29-30 October 2009
In conjunction with the Award, the annual "RT in Action" training workshop will be held on 29-30 October 2009. The two-day workshop will provide background to sustainable principles in tourism and numerous case studies from the region. It is targeted at property owners, managers and tourism professionals. By sharing the winners’ best practices, and demonstrating how easy and beneficial responsible tourism is to implement, it is hoped that other operators will be inspired to take the first steps to change. Participation fee is set at USD120. Registration for the workshop is open until September 2009.
