Women in the Workplace – Asian Perspective

The #MeToo movement has caught global attention, including in Asia. In addition to sexual harassment, other issues under the spotlight include unequal pay for women workers, and the lack of women’s representation on the boards and senior management of companies in Asia. There is however positive development such as the increasing number of women in leadership positions and investors starting to recognise this as an important contributor to business financial value and longer-term sustainability. The public, private, and social sectors will need to act to close gender gaps in work and society.

This session will explore the complexities of tackling gender equality in the workplace in Asia and what best practice can look like.
