Alison Tate

Director of Economic and Social Policy, International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)

The ITUC is the global peak body of labour unions and represents 210 million workers in 165 countries. Alison’s current role includes representing unions at the United Nations, the G20 and international financial institutions.

Alison has served on the boards of foundations as well as a number of academic, community-based and international organisations. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee of Better Work (a partnership between the International Labour Organisation and International Finance Corporation), the UNDP Civil Society Advisory Committee, the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, the Ethical Trading Initiative and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations. Alison was recently appointed as a Commissioner on the Financial Sector Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.

Alison has experience in national and global policy in economics; international trade and investment; human rights and trade union rights; labour standards compliance; social policy; migration; sustainable development; responsible investment; and corporate accountability. She has degrees in economics and political science.
