Hugh Jones

Programme Area Manager, WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme)

Hugh Jones is WRAP’s Sector Specialist for Food Waste Prevention in Wales, United Kingdom (UK).  The programme covers three main areas namely:

  • Food and drink supply chain
  • Citizen food waste prevention, and
  • Surplus food redistribution

WRAP’s vision is a world in which resources are used sustainably.

WRAP’s mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable resource-efficient economy through re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products; re-thinking how we use and consume products; and re-defining what is possible through re-use and recycling.

Hugh is responsible in Wales for delivering the Courtauld Commitment 2025 (C2025)’s ambitious, collaborative action to cut the resource needed to provide the UK’s food and drink by 20% over ten years.  This involves engagement with stakeholders including retailers, food and drink manufacturers, hospitality, tourism and food service businesses and the third (charity) sector with the aim of ensuring the specific needs of Welsh organisations, particularly in the tourism sector, are considered.  He has presented widely on WRAP’s work throughout the UK and most recently in Belgium and Brazil.

With a project management background Hugh has previously worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron, Hyder Consulting (Arcadis) and LogicaCMG (CGI).  He has worked overseas on projects in Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands.
