Dr Martin Buttle is the Apparel & Textiles Category Lead at the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI). Sitting in the programmes unit, he is responsible for leading all the programme work in relation to Apparel & Textiles. His work includes: facilitating discussions with the largest and most high-profile category in ETI; working to empower young women working in the spinning mills of Tamil Nadu; lobbying the Myanmar government on minimum wages; or developing a business and human rights forum in Turkey to support better jobs for refugee workers. Martin has over 10 years’ experience in ethical trade and sustainability focusing primarily on clothing and fashion industry in academia, consultancy and the non-profit sector.
