Sofia Nazalya is a Senior Consultant based in Singapore with a focus on human rights and responsible sourcing. Sofia leads on the Ungal Kural helpline in India, providing strategic direction and client support. Prior to ELEVATE, Sofia worked for Verisk Maplecroft, leading human rights research and consulting projects for APAC. Sofia has extensive experience delivering human rights advisory to multinational clients across metals & mining, oil & gas, consumer retail, and the finance industry. In her five years at Verisk Maplecroft, she led human rights impact assessments, and was a key contributor to ESG and geopolitical risk projects.

Prior to returning to Singapore, she worked for human rights NGOs in London, building deep expertise in advocacy and campaigning. In her time working with civil society organisations, she coordinated and developed campaigns on human rights issues in Indonesia, delivering advisory to policymakers. She has wide experience engaging with UN bodies, grassroots activists and the media on a range of human rights issues.

Sofia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the National University of Singapore along with a Master’s Degree in Human Rights from the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London. She is fluent in Malay and Indonesian.
