ELEVATE eLearning: A scalable approach to boosting program impact

eLearning’s benefits are well recognized as a scalable and cost-effective training approach for industry organizations, brands / retailers, vendors, and factories. It is accessible, engaging, and available in multiple languages. Interactive exercises can make complex topics simple and accelerate learning and knowledge retention.

But does eLearning contribute to sustainable improvement in factories? Can eLearning programs provide a quick, cost-effective way to close out corrective action plans (CAP)? This can be beneficial particularly during times of economic turmoil and as the industry pivots to mutual recognition and schemes that may not cover remediation in a standardized way.

ELEVATE data, based on over 300,000 eLearning lesson completions, shows a strong correlation between the take-up of factory-level eLearning lessons and the successful close out of CAPs when violations are identified during social audits and assessments.

Those factories that use and complete eLearning lessons online show higher commitment, follow-through and CAP closure rates (Pearson coefficient of 0.71, or strong).[1]

The chart below shows factories’ CAP progress. For those factories that successfully close out the CAP (step 8), their eLearning lesson completion rate is at 92%. The data indicates that factories with lower eLearning lesson completion rates need more support and multiple CAP reminders.

The top 10 most popular eLearning topics to support CAP closure (as part of bundled CAP eLearning programs) are:

  1. Corrective Action Plans
  2. Health and Safety Management Systems
  3. Fire Safety
  4. Effective Chemical Management
  5. Managing Air Emissions
  6. Improving Your Dormitories
  7. Working Hours
  8. Managing Wages
  9. Working Hours Recording Systems
  10. Working Hours Management Systems

Particularly as the industry pivots toward mutual recognition and industry initiatives have different approaches to CAP and remediation, factories need more support and guidance.

ELEVATE’s eLearning courses are a scalable and cost-effective way to offer that support. Lessons for brands, retailers, vendors, and factories are distributed through the company’s eLearning store, and demos are available on the ELEVATE website.

The courses and lessons also form the engine of eLearning programs used by industry associations including Sedex, RBA and FLA.

ELEVATE curricula also form part of the learning management systems of major corporate clients who need scalable solutions that can be immediately deployed for their licensees and factories.

eLearning has proven to be an effective tool to promote vendor and factory ownership, with the ultimate goal to help build great factories where workers are safe and respected in a thriving business environment.
