Working on Supply Chain Sustainability with Small Scale Producers

  • Lotus Suite 7, 22/F

Worldwide small scale farmers are key suppliers in many value chains. Yet often when companies work with small scale producers, both parties can experience challenges. On one hand, smallholders can be fragmented with inconsistent supply, and are not the first to adopt new and sustainable methods. On the other hand many companies focus only on first-tier suppliers, are not checking upwards into their supply chains, are not rewarding suppliers for sustainability improvements or support assurance mechanisms let alone addressing inequalities between men and women, and the burden of risk of climate change.

This session will look into mechanisms and solutions to address these challenges, leading to more responsible and inclusive supply chains that benefit both farmers and companies.

This session is organized as a part of CSR Asia’s partnership with Oxfam in GRAISEA, a regional programme funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok, that aims to overcome barriers to development through responsible, gender transformative value chains and private sector investments.
