Training 3: Stakeholder engagement
26 October 2009, 2pm - 5pm
Course leader – Richard Welford, Chairman, CSR Asia
In order to practise corporate social responsibility (CSR), there is a need for companies to define exactly what is responsible, which can only be done in dialogue with stakeholders. This session will outline the ways in which stakeholders can be identified, prioritised and engaged, stressing the need for an ongoing dialogue to highlight emerging trends and issues and establishing effective partnerships.

In order for a company to reduce its climate change impact, it first needs to understand its carbon footprint and the core ingredients needed for a credible climate change strategy. This training will provide a step-by-step approach to measure and manage a company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It will also examine issues such as carbon neutrality, choosing the appropriate boundaries when accounting for GHG emissions and deciding on how far down the value chain companies should be looking.

29 October 2009, 2pm – 5pm
Course leader – Richard Welford, Chairman, CSR Asia
ISO 26000 is the new guideline from the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) specifically focusing on social responsibility. The new guideline aims to provide practical assistance related to operationalising social responsibility, identifying and engaging with stakeholders, and enhancing credibility of reports and claims made about social responsibility. This standard is set to shape the future of responsible business when it will be launched in 2010. This training will outline the scope and rationale of ISO 26000 and address the core social responsibility issues identified.
